At last we have some footage from the dramatisation of Winifred Holtby's magnificent novel South Riding, which we're all so excited about. Here, the cast and crew talk about their experience of translating this brilliant 1930s novel to screen. As David Morrissey says, ' There's so much you can relate to because it's all about human relationships – they never change.'

Oh, I can't wait! Read the book quickly – it will make you even more excited about seeing it unfold on screen. We've just reissued the novel with a new preface by Shirley Williams, who knew Holtby as a child, a new introduction by Winifred Holtby's biographer Marion Shaw, and the original epitaph by Vera Brittain, Holtby's close friend.
