How the Virago Book Club Works
How it works
All you have to do to take part is sign up below, and you will receive a welcome message from us and an introductory email containing information on the chosen book when we announce it, plus all the exclusive content related to the book before it appears on the Virago website.
In addition, those that sign-up who are residents of the UK will receive a regular newsletter with information on everything that's happening with Virago books and authors (including live events, competitions, reviews and new releases).
When the Book Club title is published, the Virago Book Club forum will provide a focus of discussion on the book and the main Virago website and Facebook page will be filled with exclusive content: videos, early reviews, reading notes material. If you want to join the discussion, simply get hold of a copy, read it and join in.
The Book Club title will be featured for a month, with conversations on the Virago Book Club website around themes and material related to the book that will be updated each week. Though of course you can talk with other readers about any aspect of the book you like!
Virago First Look
Once the Book Club is up and running, we will be looking for 50 enthusiastic readers to help us kick-start the conversation. Their job will be to read an advance copy of each new Book Club selection and then share their early reviews. More information on Virago First Look to follow soon.
The Live Event
Once the Book Club title has been featured for a month, we will host a 'live' book club discussion at our London offices for around 30 keen readers, and invite the author to take part. Tickets for these events will be FREE, but on a strictly first come, first served basis!
We'll be announcing our first selection in a couple of weeks time via email to Book Club Members, and the first videos will go up on the site at the site, so do check back.
