Virago author Ingrid Betancourt, was on Hostage last night 7:00 – 8:00pm on BBC2. If you missed it, you have until 27th October to watch again on BBC iplayer.
This documentary reveals the plight of Colombia's presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt when she was abducted by FARC guerrillas and kept prisoner in the jungle, alongside her campaign manager Clara Rojas, for more than six years.
Using witness testimonies and film footage, the programme explores the daily realities of the hostages and the captors, the escape attempts and how their eventual liberation was planned and carried out by the Colombian armed forces.
Ingrid tells her amazing story in her memoir Even Silence Has An End.
