Sarah Waters celebrates Sylvia Townsend Warner

On 1 March 2012 we reissued two of Sylvia Townsend Warner’s best-known novels with lovely new jackets. Townsend Warner has many admirers, including some notable writers, and we are delighted to have new introductions by Man Booker-shortlisted authors Sarah Waters – to Lolly Willowes; and Philip Hensher – to The Corner that Held Them. And just before publication date, there was great excitement when we were sent some buried treasure – four ‘lost’ short stories, unearthed in the New York Public Library by members of the Sylvia Townsend Warner Society, which we’ve made available as an ebook exclusive entitled The Doll’s House and Other Stories.

Sarah Waters’ piece and one of the short stories, ‘Flowers,’ were featured in the Guardian Review on Saturday 3 March 2012. Our thanks to Sarah Waters, Philip Hensher and the good people at the Guardian for their appreciation of a wonderful writer!
